FAQ
What actually makes learning stick?
Retrieval and spacing. Producing an answer from memory strengthens it far more than re-reading, and spacing the attempts across widening intervals fights the forgetting curve. Cosminds is built on both: it grades what you write from memory and reschedules each card on a 1, 3, 7, 21, 60 day ladder.
Why is re-reading not enough?
Re-reading feels productive because the text gets easier to recognize, but recognition is not recall. When the book is gone you cannot reproduce the idea. Testing yourself is uncomfortable precisely because it is doing the work re-reading only appears to do.
How is Cosminds different from Anki?
Anki drills flashcards you write yourself, one card front, one card back. Cosminds makes the cards for you from a source, grades free-written answers on meaning rather than exact match, and connects each fact to the wider ideas it belongs to. Anki tests a card; Cosminds tests understanding.
